People are probably confusing lactose intolerant with vegan - that would explain the confusion about eggs. Can't really see why anyone would think potatoes have lactose, though.

Soy-Delicious makes AWESOME lactose-free and somtimes gluten-free ice cream in a multiple of flavours. Chocolate chip cookie dough is my fav! I havent had real ice cream in 20 years, but I think it tastes even better, and so far, every one I know who has tried it, says they like it better too (even the lactose loving dairy eaters!).

I have just become lactose intolerant. I am having diffuculty finding a list of foods to avoid. I find it astonishing to discover this problem after 79 years of enjoying my milk and all milk products. I really need some help on this new deal.

Breyers makes lactose free ice cream!! It only comes in vanilla, but it is delicious! Same creamy flavor as regular, but it didn't make me sick, and I'm very sensitive to lactose!

OK, so your son needs a diet high in fiber AND high in lactose?

High fiber is easy: 1 apple w/skin, 1C Raspberries, 1 med. Avocado; 1C cooked Carrots, Kale, Sweet potato, Winter squash, Soybeans, Black beans, Kidney beans, Lentils or Peas; Bran cereal, Rolled (Dry) Oats, Flax Seed...

Lactose: anything dairy - including whey, casein, caseinate, lactalbumin, caramel color, caramel flavoring, ghee, custard, hydrolysates, hydrolyzed milk protein, high protein flour, lactoferrin, lactoglobulin, lactose, lactulose, margarine, rennet, protein, Simplesse, nougat...Lactose is often in any orange drinks, like Orange Soda, and is in Mikky D's french fries as a preservative. Lactose is everywhere!

I have a child with chronic bowel syptoms all the time. He just recently got out of the hospital from 2 days of cleaning his system out with laxatives. Now the doctors are telling me to put him on a high fiber/lactose diet. I need help on what is good and not good for him to eat. And what I can buy in a regular grocery store without going broke. Can you please help me by sending me information and a list if possible? Thank you very much for everything.
